Published on 9/29/2025

Join us on October 10 at 12pm on Zoom

Our speaker is Amanda Buchholz, Recruiter/Trainer of Volunteers, CASA Program of South Bend (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) participates in Child in Need of Services (“CHINS”) abuse and neglect cases. In Indiana, CASA volunteers are fully empowered to advocate for the children. They have the right to attend hearings, present information to the court, obtain relevant records, and make recommendations and requests to the court on behalf of the child. Amanda will talk about the CASA program and answer questions residents have about becoming an Advocate.

Speaker’s Bio: Amanda  was born and raised in South Bend. She is a graduate of Clay High School and Indiana University South Bend. She has extensive experience working with children and vulnerable populations. She spent six and a half years teaching children at a local learning center, then transitioned to working with adults with special needs. In her seven years working with adults with special needs, she held roles from the lead instructor for the Hannah and Friends day program to a caseworker with Logan Protective Services. In 2021, she joined the CASA Program of St. Joseph County as the Recruiter/Trainer and loves getting to know the various community members she has the pleasure of training to be CASA volunteers. In 2025, Amanda joined the Michiana Down Syndrome Board. Amanda's passion for helping the most vulnerable populations in Michiana gives her true purpose in this world.
